International Schools in Marbella are often one of the biggest considerations for families relocating to the Costa del Sol. From our experience in Marbella’s luxury property market, we know that the choice of school and the choice of home go hand in hand. For many buyers, proximity to a preferred international school plays a key role in deciding which neighbourhood best suits their family’s lifestyle.
With Marbella’s exceptional climate encouraging an active, outdoor way of life throughout the year, children regularly travel between school, sports clubs, extracurricular activities and the beach. For busy families managing daily school runs and after-school schedules, living close to a leading international school is not only convenient but also an important factor when choosing the right property.
Why Marbella Has Become an International Schools Hub
Marbella has one of the highest concentrations of international schools on the Costa del Sol, reflecting decades of growth in its resident foreign community. These bilingual and trilingual institutions combine recognised international curriculums, British, French, American, and the IB Diploma with the option of Spanish qualifications, giving children academic mobility whether the family stays in Spain long-term or moves on again.
Below is our updated selection of five of the best-established international schools in Marbella for the 2026/2027 academic year, along with what parents should know about fees, curricula, and admissions before enrolling.
Aloha College Marbella
Aloha College, in Nueva Andalucía, is one of the longest-running and most academically respected international schools on the coast. Founded in 1982 as a not-for-profit foundation, it now educates around 900 pupils aged 3 to 18 from more than 50 nationalities on a 27,000+ m² campus.
Aloha follows the English National Curriculum through IGCSEs, with students choosing between A-Levels or the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma in Sixth Form, one of only a handful of schools in the Marbella area to offer both pathways. Graduates regularly receive offers from Oxbridge and other Russell Group universities.
- Ages: 3–18
- Curriculum: British National Curriculum, IGCSE, IB Diploma or A-Levels
- Fees (2026/27): approx. €4,800–€19,000/year depending on year group
- Location: Nueva Andalucía — best paired with property in La Cerquilla, Aloha, Los Naranjos, or the western Golden Mile
- Good to know: As a not-for-profit, surpluses are reinvested into facilities and staff. Enrolment for 2026/2027 is limited to year groups with remaining places, so early application matters.
Swans International School
Swans International School has operated in Marbella since 1971 and is one of the coast’s most consistent academic performers. It runs two campuses: a primary campus at El Capricho in central Marbella, and a secondary campus in Sierra Blanca, on the hillside above the Golden Mile.
Swans delivers a bilingual British–Spanish education through IGCSE, followed by the IB Diploma in Sixth Form, a programme it has run since 2008. The school was recognised as Spain’s top IB school in 2023, with an average score well above the global average and several students achieving a perfect 45 points in recent years. French is introduced at primary level, and older students can pursue the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, including a signature two-day hiking expedition through Ronda and Tarifa.
- Ages: 3–18
- Curriculum: British curriculum, IGCSE, IB Diploma
- Fees (2026/27): approx. €8,750–€20,500/year
- Location: Central Marbella (primary) and Sierra Blanca (secondary), a strong fit for Golden Mile, Nagüeles, and Cascada de Camoján buyers
- Good to know: Swans is well known for its induction support for families arriving mid-year, making it a popular choice for newly relocated households.
The British International School of Marbella (BISM)
BISM, founded in 2010, occupies two purpose-built campuses in Nagüeles: an Early Years campus and a combined Primary & Secondary campus. It delivers the National Curriculum for England and Wales from Early Years through GCSEs and A-Levels, with Spanish subjects available for pupils who want dual UK/Spain recognition.
Facilities include a 25-metre indoor pool, sports hall, football pitch, and a 400-seat auditorium added in a 2020 expansion. BISM is known for small class sizes, close pastoral attention, and a no-phones policy that parents frequently highlight in reviews.
- Ages: 2–18
- Curriculum: British National Curriculum, IGCSE, A-Levels
- Fees (2026/27): approx. €6,000–€14,500/year
- Location: Nagüeles, on the Golden Mile
- Good to know: Enrolment is open year-round, with rolling admissions subject to availability rather than fixed intake windows.
École Française Internationale de Marbella (EFIM)
EFIM is Marbella’s dedicated French-curriculum school and remains the only one of its kind on the western Costa del Sol. Located centrally near Parque de los Enamorados, it delivers the official French National Education programme, homologated by the French Ministry of Education from Petite Section through to CM2 (ages 3–11), taught trilingually in French, Spanish, and English.
Each class is staffed by three native-speaking teachers, one per language, and the pedagogical approach blends the French curriculum with Montessori-inspired methods. EFIM operates within the AEFE network of French schools abroad, giving French national families access to scholarship support.
- Ages: 3–11 (early years and primary)
- Curriculum: French National Curriculum (AEFE-affiliated), trilingual instruction
- Fees (2026/27): approx. €5,850–€6,900/year, plus a one-time registration fee
- Location: Central Marbella, near the Golden Mile
- Good to know: EFIM is ideal for French-speaking families or anyone prioritising early trilingual fluency; a secondary phase is planned as the school grows.
The American College in Spain (ACS)
The American College in Spain, based in Puerto Banús, is the first North American high school and university campus in Andalusia, operating since 2013. It offers a full US-style high school diploma with Advanced Placement (AP) courses, followed by a 2+2 university pathway: two years of general education credits completed in Marbella, then transfer to Keiser University in Florida or another accredited North American or European university to finish a Bachelor’s degree (BA, BBA, or BSc).
With around 40 nationalities on campus and small class sizes, ACS suits families who want their children to study within the US system without leaving Spain during the first years of higher education.
- Ages: High school (15–18) and university transfer programme
- Curriculum: American curriculum, AP courses, Keiser University-affiliated Associate Degree pathway
- Fees (2026/27): approx. €6,250–€16,600/year depending on programme
- Location: Puerto Banús, five minutes from the beach
- Good to know: Credits earned in the first two years transfer to universities across the US, UK, and Europe, giving families flexibility on where a child ultimately graduates.
How to Choose the Right School for Your Family
With several strong options within a short drive of each other, the right choice usually comes down to three questions:
- Which curriculum matches your child’s academic path? IB is available at Aloha and Swans; A-Levels at Aloha, BISM, and beyond; the French system at EFIM; and the American system at ACS.
- How does the school’s location fit your daily routine? Nueva Andalucía, the Golden Mile, and Puerto Banús each cluster different schools — property location and school run times are closely linked in Marbella.
- When do you need to apply? Competitive year groups at the most established schools (Reception, Year 7, and Sixth Form) can fill up to a year in advance, so early enquiries are strongly recommended for September 2026 or 2027 entry.
